You can get to Rhodes from Athens after about 50 minutes
of flight. The island has two airports but only one is
used for commercial purposes.
The international airport Diagoras is at 15km of distance
from the city, near the village of Paradissi. There are
regular daily flights to Athens, to Heraklion Crete,
and to Thessaloniki.
There are also regular international flights to and from
Italy, England, Germany and Israel, mostly during the
summer, as well as a big number of chartered flights
to and from all around the world.

Travel - Sea Connections (recommended only for participants
coming from Marmaris, Turkey)
The commercial harbor is situated in the city. All international
and domestic ferries dock here as well as all the cruise
liners. There are regular ferry lines connecting Rhodes
with Athens (Pireaus), Heraklion, Cyprus and Turkey.
Rhodes is also connected with all the neighboring islands
through extensive boat and hydrofoil services. Most of
them dock at the commercial port and some at the Mandraki
harbor.
Transport
The distance from the airport to the
town of Rhodes is about 15km. A public bus service connects
the airport to the city (ticket: 1,90€ per person, for
bus schedule click here). There is a bus stop outside
the arrivals terminal. Please ask at the Information
Desk which buses go through the airport. There is another
bus stop approx. 80m from the airport entrance. You can
find it if you cross the street and walk to the left.
In both cases, the bus comes from Paradeisi village and
takes you to the center of the town of Rhodes. If you
are going to Grand Hotel, you can ask the bus driver
to make a stop at the bus stop before the statue of Diagoras
(located at the entrance of the town of Rhodes). The
bus stop is 70-80m before Grand Hotel. If you walk along
the seashore to the direction of the Old City (you can
see the Medieval Walls from the bus stop), you will find
Grand Hotel at your right side. You cannot miss it because
it is a huge hotel complex. There is a bus stop outside
Grand Hotel but you can use it only to go to the airport.
In case you miss the bus stop, please walk to the direction
of the sea. Rhodes is a small town and you can easily
find your way around.
There are also taxis
just outside the arrivals terminal. The fare for a ride
from the Airport to Grand Hotel is approximately 15€
(maximum of 4 persons per car). You should refuse to
pay more no matter how persistent the cab driver might
be! There is an additional charge of 1.50€ for taxis’
booked by phone.
